Crossing the threshold

For the years 2002-2003, Jesús Lara already does whatever he wants with Mother Nature. The same thing abstracts a landscape that fictionalizes the real. The works are taking an abstract form while they do not stop being landscapers. Lara wants to break with everything. Away from cultural orthodoxy, he manages to create a style that, without styles, is broader.
It is not difficult to realize the absolute solitude in the aesthetic experience of Jesús Lara and its significance for the history of Cuban Art. The artist has experienced a kind of isolation, intellectual rather than stylistic, that breaks with all norms and abandons whatever technical convention persists within the manifestation, updating, aesthetically and conceptually, the premises of the genre.
These landscapes are not really landscapes. What really matters to Lara is human geography, its passageways, nooks and crannies, shortcuts. His work deals with a reality, and this has a body, but it is not physical, but spiritual. The subjective reality of the mind exposed in various formats and supports is its way of expressing itself to the world, yes, from a landscape appearance that makes the discourse more fluid.

 

Para los años 2002-2003 ya Jesús Lara hace con la madre natura lo que le venga en gana. Lo mismo abstrae un paisaje que ficciona lo real. Las obras van tomando una forma abstracta al tiempo que no dejan de ser paisajistas. Lara quiere romper con todo. Alejado de la ortodoxia cultural logra crear un estilo, que, sin estilos, es de mayor amplitud.
No es difícil darse cuenta de la soledad absoluta en la experiencia estética de Jesús Lara y de su significado para la historia del Arte Cubano. El artista ha experimentado una especie de aislamiento, más que estilístico, intelectual, que rompe con todas las normas y abandona cuanto convencionalismo tecnicista persiste dentro de la manifestación, reactualizando, estética y conceptualmente, las premisas del género.
Estos paisajes no son realmente paisajes. A Lara lo que en verdad le importa es la geografía humana, sus pasadizos, recovecos, atajos. Su obra trata de una realidad, y esta tiene un cuerpo, pero no es físico, sino espiritual. La realidad subjetiva de la mente expuesta en diversos formatos y soportes es su manera de expresarse al mundo, eso sí, desde una apariencia paisajística que hace más fluido el discurso.
