After hitting bottom

Nature in Lara’s landscapes has been recomposed in very powerful volumes and rhythms, so that whoever observes it comes to feel the vertigo of doubt, more than the tranquility of certainty. It is like a train bearing down on us, a train moving at 60 miles per hour that the viewer would do well to go see before it leaves the frame.
It is rather a rare kind of poetic justice, in which she meddles with the problems of contemporary being and the society in which she lives. Our very existence as a species is in danger and today’s art does not reflect it with the seriousness that it entails. Lara is inviting us to reflect on the enigmatic nature of the everyday world, with initiatives and challenges that venture us into a new configuration of reality.
Aesthetically, the paradigmatic model of the landscape has been put into crisis. If it could be encrypted in a single note that defines and reflects it, that cardinal note would be the destigmatization of human nature, history and its time. The fiber of the symbolic has recovered its rhythm and the landscape, like its representation, is also a human invention.

 

La naturaleza en los paisajes de Lara se ha recompuesto en volúmenes y ritmos muy poderosos, para que aquel que la observe llegue a sentir el vértigo de la duda, más que la tranquilidad de la certeza. Es como un tren que se nos echa encima, un tren que avanza a 60 millas por hora y que el espectador haría bien en ir a ver antes de que se salga del cuadro.
Se trata más bien de una rara especie de justicia poética, en la que inmiscuye las problemáticas del ser contemporáneo y de la sociedad en que vive. Nuestra propia existencia como especie está en peligro y el arte de hoy no lo refleja con la gravedad que conlleva. Lara nos está invitando a reflexionar sobre la naturaleza enigmática del mundo cotidiano, con iniciativas y desafíos que nos aventuran en una nueva configuración de lo real.
Estéticamente, el modelo paradigmático del paisaje ha sido puesto en crisis. Si pudiera cifrarse en una nota única que lo defina y refleje, esa nota cardinal sería la desestigmatización sobre la naturaleza humana, la historia y su tiempo. La fibra de lo simbólico ha recuperado su ritmo y el paisaje, como su representación, es también una invención humana.
